Responsible for fleet operations and transportation service management for the business. Utilize tools and methodologies to analyze, predict, and improve transportation operations and efficiencies. Provide relevant and accurate data analyses to support implementation of transportation solutions. Ensure no disruption to operations, service levels or customer expectations due to fleet or transportation considerations.
**Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities**
+ Manages fleet operations, including but not limited to acquisition, lease management, registration, tag maintenance, fleet maintenance, compliance, driver oversight, records management, cost monitoring, benchmarking, forecasting and forecast accuracy. Assists with the development of the logistics and transportation budget.
+ Oversees transportation service management, including but not limited to carrier negotiations, contract records management, procurement and scheduling, service, quality, compliance, rating and routing, cost monitoring, benchmarking, forecasting and forecast accuracy. Maintains third party logistics relationships.
+ Optimizes transportation network, evaluating current rates, approved carriers, specified capacities, transit times, and other available data to develop executable load plans. Develops end-to-end multi-carrier strategy and cost/benefit.
+ Optimizes dedicated delivery routing to ensure most efficient use of vehicles and drivers. Monitors last mile deviation activity to compare system recommended solution to actual routing.
+ Analyzes market drivers for freight and fleet. Develops benchmarks and recommendations for long-term strategies based on transportation density and utilization trends.
+ Oversees the reporting and analyses of transportation and other logistics activities (warehousing, shipping) leading to optimized network recommendations. Develops fuel supplier and cost strategy methods.
+ Oversees implementation of new operating methodologies that optimize customer service and results (i.e., order consolidations, pool distribution, parcel zone skipping, etc.).
+ Ensures logistics and delivery programs meet safety and regulatory requirements.
**Nature and Scope**
+ Solutions require analysis and investigation.
+ Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience. May recommend/make decisions regarding new programs/initiatives that have significant impact to the business and carry consequences in unsuccessful endeavors.
+ Manages a larger team or multiple small teams through direction of subordinate management and/or supervisory staff.
+ Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
+ Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about. Occasionally there may be a requirement to stoop or lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).
+ Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
**Education and Experience**
+ Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

+ Logistics Network Optimization
+ Experience in Final Mile Delivery
