Job Description

POSITION: Production Supervisor 
Qualifications: We require an individual with a strong understanding of the manufacturing processes and systems. Possess excellent communication skills and have a 4-year degree and/or 5 years related experience. Experience supervising in a unionized environment is a plus.

  • Conduct effective monthly safety meetings with hourly personnel 
  • Provide and communicate thorough and accurate details during an investigation that is, but not limited to a safety, drug, and alcohol related incident or accident. 
  • Ensure safety incident/accident reports are turned in promptly and accurate, including corrective action illustrated. 
  • Enforce PPE usage, as well as identifying potential safety issues, and taking the appropriate action. 
  • Be responsible for learning/understanding plant assembly standardized work instructions as it pertains to building quality seats the first time through. 
  • Utilize and share the knowledge of seat building standardized work instructions to properly reduce quality defects with hourly staff.
  • Participate and understand any changes to the products and/or processes generated from the Quality, Engineering, Continuous Improvement, and etc departments. 
  • Use appropriate problem solving methods to lead the development of successful action plans that achieve permanent corrective actions and eliminate non-conformances. Initiate and participate in 8D teams. 
  • Perform LPA (layered process audits) on time. 
  • Assess/Plan manning for the shift in accordance to vacations, personal days, and absenteeism. 
  • Monitor and address production efficiencies for all operators 
  • Coach/develop team leaders and hourly personnel. Impose correction action when necessary. (in accordance to shop rules and CBA). 
  • Locate/troubleshoot production inefficiencies real time. 
  • Coordinate involvement of necessary departments to align with daily production. 
  • Complete time and attendance daily 
  • Administer all HR disciplines timely. 
  • Administer Collective Bargaining Agreement in accordance with company philosophies, policies, procedures and systems; apply knowledge and skills gained through supervisory training.
  • Uphold and reinforce the Code of Ethics as it applies within Human Resources. 
  • Maintains working relationship with the Union. 
  • Completes all required online training timely, i.e. Biz Library and RBL. 
  • Proven ability to positively motivate and manage people in a teamwork environment. 
  • Handles employee grievances at the initial steps.
