Job Title: Speech Pathologist
Provide planning, diagnostic evaluations / assessments and implementation of remedial programs for children with communicative disorders to facilitate the highest degree of improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Screens and / or evaluates individuals using age appropriate testing instruments as needed.
Demonstrates proficiency in speech and language therapy and communication skills by improving the speech and language abilities of children to the highest degree possible.
Relates factors of age, developmental stage, cultural, special needs and linguistic background to the goals and objectives designed for children with communication disorders.
Refers students for appropriate alternative education and based on needs.
Demonstrates knowledge of the appropriate remedial strategies for prescriptive programming for Speech and Language.
Supports a series of goals and objectives for each child with speech and language disabilities; evaluates and documents services provided as needed.
Provides therapy in accordance with the adopted speech and language curriculum, Head Start Performance Standards and Diagnostic Criteria/IEP as needed.
Demonstrates knowledge of the characteristics of speech, language and hearing disorders for preschool aged children.
Submits accurate records as required by Indiana state laws and professional boards and by Family Development Services’ administrative guidelines, Performance Standards and diagnostic criteria.
Communicates with staff, parents and the public in a courteous and professional manner.
