The Opportunity:
Providing solutions in an efficient and customer-focused model, Human Resource Services (HRS) strives to enhance the employment experience and satisfaction of Washington State University (WSU) faculty and staff through clear communication, outreach, engagement, and support. Enhancing workplace satisfaction and sustainability of the University, fostering a positive and engaging experience to the OneWSU system.
As an HR Assistant in the Employment Services unit of Human Resource Services, you will perform a variety of duties in support of human resource operations and employment compliance for the WSU Spokane Health Sciences Campus and other assigned areas. While applying established human resources, policies, and procedures for multiple employee types, you will serve the main point of contact for a variety of recruitment related activities, including but not limited to background check processing, reviewing and preparing job postings, and fielding questions from hiring personnel and applicants. With guidance from the Senior HR Business Partner and HR Analyst, you will:
• Serve as a main point of contact and coordinator for recruitment processes with a customer service focus.
• Process and assist in the administration of background check processes (high volume).
• Coordinate and present monthly Spokane Campus New Employee Orientation sessions.
• Review, develop, and maintain accurate correspondence and records.
• Provide customer service to department leadership, employees, applicants and other constituents.
• Gather, organize, and frequently track and update documentation and spreadsheets and maintain files; and
• Produce reports.
Your work will require maintaining and ensuring a confidential environment at all times.
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
This position is located on the WSU Spokane Health Science Campus in Spokane, Washington.
Monthly Salary:
$3,167 to $4,194 | Range 36 (Steps A-M) |
Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with https://https:/app.leg.wa.gov/WAC/default.aspx?cite=357-28.

Required Qualifications:
• Three years of office experience OR equivalent education/experience.
• Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience providing customer service both in person and/or over the phone.
• Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in the following areas: compensation/classification, recruiting, and labor relations.
• Experience interpreting or applying labor laws.
• Experience utilizing an HR Information System.
• Human Resource experience in a higher education setting.
