The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Software Project Engineer to join the Next Generation Product Support organization, which develops a diverse suite of digital and data analytics capabilities and supports investments in defense platform capabilities for product support across a wide portfolio of US and non-US customers.


This position will lead digital and analytic solution development project execution ensuring project deliverables, schedules, and budgets are executed to plan in order to drive key customer outcomes. The role requires a self-driven, organized, and outcome-oriented individual with a demonstrated history of partnering with leadership, execution teams, and key stakeholders to manage the development of estimates in accordance with statements of work and the management of the execution of those initiatives.


The ideal candidate will be familiar with software centric projects using cloud-native and data centric software development projects using technologies such as Amazon Web Services, Angular, Apache Spark, and PostgreSQL in order to be most effective in the role.


This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to work onsite 2 days a week at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.



Position Responsibilities:


  1. Provides execution leadership to a software team executing multiple software projects supporting both internal and external customers.

  2. Develops and reviews Statements of Work (SOW) to support ongoing and new business requirements.

  3. Coordinates with customers, management, and engineering team to ensure adequate buy-in from all project stakeholders.

  4. Responds to changes to SOW, assesses the impact and negotiates proposed changes to determine modifications to the deliverables, resources, costs and schedules.

  5. Identifies performance metrics. Plans, identifies, and coordinates resources required over the life of the project or program.

  6. Assesses, develops mitigation plans, and tracks execution for Risks, Issues, and Opportunities.

  7. Compares actual results to baseline plan to lead analysis of efficiency, productivity, and lessons learned.

  8. Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans.

  9. Manages and coordinates estimation activities to support Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) and Basis of Estimate (BOE) analysis.

  10. Tracks performance to plan using Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.

  11. Works under minimal direction.



Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):


  1. Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+7 years' related work experience).

  2. Experience working in or supporting software development teams.

  3. Earned Value Management training and demonstrated history tracking projects using EVM methodologies and tools.

  4. 5+ years of experience managing multi-faceted software projects.

  5. 3+ years of experience supporting government contract execution.


This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.



Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):


  1. 1+ years of Agile and/or SAFe Agile.

  2. Experience of working within a multinational matrix management environment / structure and a large-scale, sophisticated international organization.

  3. Experience with collaboration tools Atlassian Jira, Atlassian Confluence.

  4. Experience managing multiple concurrent projects.

  5. Experience serving as a Cost Account Manager (CAM) on an aerospace and/or defense development project.

  6. Experience briefing senior leadership on project status, challenges, and mitigation recommendations.



Education / Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.



Pay Rate Range

Min Pay Rate: $69.65


Max Pay Rate: $77.38


Currency: USD
