Digital Business Development Leader
The role leads the activities, processes and best practices undertaken to grow our market position in the Digital Small Business Insurance channel. This includes prospecting for and building a pipeline of new partner relationships and leading our Partner onboarding processes and production. The Digital Business Development Leader is responsible for building and implementing strategic initiatives that drive profitable growth, both at a high level and at the individual partner level. Key capabilities are the ability to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities, improve sales execution, lead strategic sales planning, and work collaboratively across the organization to leverage resources and drive growth.
Core activities include leading and coaching the Digital BDM team, building effective relationships with top partners, representing Hiscox USA in the Digital Insurance channel. This individual will work collaboratively with our digital leadership, our digital underwriting teams, digital delivery and value streams, our broader distribution team, service delivery and product leaders to drive results. This role is responsible for leading, coaching, and mentoring a team of digital business development managers and a partnerships onboarding and success manager. This is a national role and travel is an essential part of this roleSuccess is measured with a balanced scorecard with sales financial goals and KPI’s in addition to behaviors to deliver and lead on the Hiscox values.
It plays a vital role in leading business growth, expanding market presence, growing broker relationships, and ensuring long-term success. The primary objective of the digital business development leader is to identify, capitalize and lead opportunities for growth and competitive advantage within existing and newly appointed digital partnerships.Job Requirements:Provides consistent, effective leadership, both in person and virtually, while maintaining positive morale and demonstrating a commitment to diversity and respect for others. Approaches business problems and results with a data driven mindset. Provides consistent monthly reporting to SVP, Digital Strategy and Execution Lead, mentor, and manage the digital sales and onboarding team to achieve individual and team sales targets. Actively coach and develop sales acumen of business develop managers.
Implements operating routines and best practices that drive consistency and accountability across the business development function. Recruit, onboard, develop, and manage the performance of digital business development managers. Responsible for onboarding and ongoing co-travel with DBDMs to enhance market facing activities. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key partners.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with digital partners and stakeholders is crucial for business development activities.
This involves effective communication and collaboration to establish trust and mutually beneficial partnerships that focus on achieving results. This also includes building strong relationships throughout to drive submission activity, pipeline for new business opportunities and deliver on sales initiatives. Annual Sales Targets and Territory KPI’s: Deliver on Hiscox’s traded sales process to drive financial results through strategic relationships and BDM leadership.
Closely manage DBDM and sales goals to ensure monthly targets are met to achieve annual results. Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve digital partnerships annual sales targets and expand customer base with all underwriting business units.
Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, and internal capabilities to identify growth opportunities and formulate plans to achieve business development objectives while leading the business development team and providing monthly reporting to SVP, Digital Execution and Strategy. Prepare and present regular territory sales report outs and performance reviews for distribution leadership. Drive continuous improvement in sales processes, tools, and systems. Communicates frequently and coordinates with each business area to achieve submission goals for Hiscox strategic growth goals. Additional Requirements:Travel Requirements- Ability to travel 50% of the timeExcellent communication skills to help influence both internal and external key stakeholders in strategic growth. Excellent leadership skills with both direct report and cross functional teams. Smal commercial insurance experience required Qualifications: Must have a proven track record of sales leadership, minimum of 3-5 yearsStrong people leadership, coaching, and team-building skills Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
