**Title: Patient Representative**
**Department: Patient Representative-BI**
**Hospital: Mount Sinai Beth Israel**
**Schedule: Part-Time, 9am to 5pm**
Act as liaison to strengthen the relationship between the Medical Center and patients and their families, effect resolution to problems, and counsel in potential AMA cases and crisis situations.
**_Roles & Responsibilities:_**
1. Receives and responds to referrals from patients/families, professionals and administrative staff and the community.
1. Responds to crisis situations, and reactions of patients/families.
1. Explains risks and benefits to patients, ensuring that all necessary precautions and alternatives were discussed.
1. Advises patient/families of "Patient's Bill of Rights" and of patient's responsibilities.
1. Assists in cases where patient is threatening to leave the hospital against medical advice.
1. Responds to patient problems, concerns and unmet needs to promote patient satisfaction with services. Investigates complaints through interviews with hospital personnel and reviews pertinent documentation including patient charts.
**_Requirements:_**
BS/BA degree in behavior science, social work, or related field is preferred.
2 years of patient and/or health care relations or other related experience, with BA/BS. Three years without degree but BA/BS is preferred.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) candidates preferred.

**Compensation**
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements.
The salary range for the role is $58,661.00 - $67,500.00 Annually.
Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need.
The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
