Prepare all meals and special diets for patients, guests and staff as outline by the Director and Dietician.
Utilizes safe food handling procedures in preparing items for patient trays and the preparation of the salad bar and service line in the dining room. Is responsible for providing appropriate foods to patients within their modified/therapeutic diet needs and within portion control. Performs charge duties as assigned to assure administrative duties are maintained in the absence of the department director.
High school graduate or equivalent preferred
Prefer training in nutrition services with one-year experience as a dietary aide or completion of the certified dietary aide course.
Complete the charge position orientation checklist within the first three shifts.
Able to meet the stresses and demands of the position. Standing and walking required more than 2/3 of the time. Lifting and carrying supplies up to 10lbs is required. Lifting up to 50 Ibs is sometimes required. Climbing and balancing is sometimes required for retrieving or putting away stock. Stooping, kneeling, squatting and crouching for short periods of time is sometimes required. Reaching below, at and above shoulder level is required frequently and regularly.
Ordinary conversational talking and hearing are required constantly. Other talking and hearing are required frequently for telephone calls and monitoring equipment. Handling, fingering, feeling, twisting, simple grasping and repetitive use of hands are frequent and regularly required in the food service areas.
Tasting and smelling are frequently and regularly required. Vision requiring near and far acuity, color vision, peripheral and depth perception required frequently in reading menus, assessing quality of food, identifying color coded dietary cards.
