The Senior Analyst of Trade Compliance will be responsible for providing support and leadership to a multi-site import/export team. This position will be responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and support with respect to trade compliance in order to achieve financial and operational goals. The candidate will develop strategic and tactical plans for optimizing and ensuring compliance globally to drive cost and efficiency. The candidate must also uphold the Company’s high standards while partnering with Legal to ethically and knowledgeably ensure compliance in matters of trade regulations as they relate to a manufacturer with a multinational footprint.
Customer and Customer Expectations:
Key Customers: Customers and end users of products; business teams; executive management; strategic partners; global manufacturing teams; and support teams, including sales & marketing, regulatory, sourcing and supply management, planning, distribution operations, customer service, and master data team, internal and external audit teams, legal.
Scope:
This position reports to the Senior Manager of Global Trade Compliance and is accountable for the development and execution of the global supply chain. The position is expected to influence and drive results throughout the supply chain organization. This position will also work closely with Manufacturing, Customs, Distribution partners, Marketing, and Procurement partners to achieve the identified goals.
The individual will:
- Support trade compliance for US, Mexico & Honduras, ensuring compliance with all import and export regulations for each country.
- Support the NA & Latin America trade compliance team to support Imports & Exports from Honduras, Mexico, and North America to maximize profitability by applying FTAs (Free Trade Agreements) as well as to comply with regulations in each country.
- Act as a key advisor to the sales force on trade compliance matters in support of quoting business in countries under trade controls/restrictions as well as federal contracts requiring specific COO (Country of Origin) compliant materials.
- Advise operations strategy and commercial teams on trade compliance & tariff/duties strategies in support of global footprint optimization and make-vs-buy decisions.
- Act as the 'Subject Matter Expert' for the organization in matters concerning Classification and Valuation, as well as act as advisor to Tax and Finance regarding Import/Export.
- Establish and manage an internal Post Entry Audit and Annual Program Audit as it relates to trade compliance.
- Evaluate changes to Trade Compliance regulations (as well as industry matters) and develop strategic contingency plans to avoid disruption to the supply chain.
Qualifications/Education/Expertise/Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, international business, Supply Chain Management, or other Supply Chain related discipline with strong preference to advanced degrees in relevant discipline or equivalent experience
- A Minimum of 5 years of operations, negotiations, distribution, and logistics experience covering a highly regulated vertically integrated, global, high SKU and network complexity profile.
- Previous successful mid to high-level management experience.
- Previous experience (and managing) Maquiladora (IMMEX) operations; including all duty mitigation programs as they relate to MX/HN manufacturing; Reconciliation Program, obtaining Binding Rulings, preparing Prior Disclosures and other communications with Customs Authorities.
- Experience administrating C-TPAT and other Authorized Economic Operator programs.
- Proven Leadership Skills, authority, vision, and influence across teams over which the incumbent has no direct accountability.
- Managerial experience in various supply chain functions with demonstrated results and strength in leadership Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully working in a matrixed environment.
- Ability to act independently and to take initiative.
- Must have advanced computer skills and a solid understanding and knowledge of ERP/MRP systems including SAP experience.
- Cross-functional knowledge throughout the supply chain (manufacturing, distribution, planning, sourcing and supply, transportation) including demonstrated knowledge of financial metrics and drivers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
- Experience with SAP’s ERP system is beneficial.
