STATIONARY ENGINEER/BOILER OPERATOR – CL2206

Cleveland-Cliffs is the largest flat-rolled steel company and the largest iron ore pellet producer in North America. The company is vertically integrated from mining through iron making, steelmaking, rolling, finishing and downstream with hot and cold stamping of steel parts and components.

Cleveland-Cliffs Cleveland Works will have openings at its Cleveland, Ohio facility for Operating Technician (Stationary Engineer) positions in our Powerhouse. The following primary position responsibilities and key position requirements are intended to provide an overview of the position but are not all-inclusive.

Responsibilities

• Operate both 300# and 900# industrial boilers
• Assist in the start-up of large industrial condensing turbines
• Become familiar with all aspects of boiler water treatment
• Become familiar with all auxiliary equipment related to powerhouse operation
• Scheduling requirements are on a rotating shift including weekends and holidays with overtime required as necessary to maintain powerhouse operations
• All job duties will be completed with minimum supervision as required
• Ascend and descend ladders and climb stairs

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from an accredited school, and a current THIRD CLASS OR HIGHER Stationary Engineer’s license with the State of Ohio
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Preferred Requirements

• 2 years’ experience in an industrial or utility power plant experience
• Candidates must be willing to perform essential job duties, including successfully pass a drug screen and background check and must pass a physical exam prior to starting employment.
