Victim Assistance Legal Advocacy offered by King County Prosecuting Attorney in Seattle
Victim Assistance Legal Advocacy is provided by information mailed to victims and personal advocacy from the staff. Two categories of crimes have been targeted for more direct service to and contact with victims by VAU staff:
- Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Cases: Victims of domestic violence within unincorporated King County.
- Homicide/Criminal Loss of Life Cases: Outreach to families and friends who desire information regarding a case; proactive position taken by the Unit on any homicide, vehicular homicide, and vehicular assault cases.
Services may include legal support through court accompaniment, information, and a realistic presentation of options. Drop-in child care is provided by the Children's Home Society at the Regional Justice Center for parents while they appear in court.
Individuals will be contacted by restitution staff.
Eligibility: Crime victim or family member of a crime victim.

King County Prosecuting Attorney prosecutes all felonies committed in King County and misdemeanors committed in unincorporated areas. Provides information, assistance, and advocacy for crime victims within King County’s criminal justice system, with additional advocacy for domestic violence crime victims and homicide cases.
