JOB SUMMARY

The Supervisor - Facilities Maintenance manages a team of technicians and technologists to execute the PM and repair of the fabrication and assembly equipment at S&C Electric Company’s Chicago campus. The principal responsibilities include PM and repair of CNC turning and milling, robotic welding, pretreatment/powder painting, Cypoxy molding, plating, and waste treatment equipment. The Supervisor interfaces with internal customers across the campus to facilitate the operation of fabrication and assembly equipment and the support of internally driven improvements. Given that the Supervisor is expected to get results through and build capability in others, additional responsibilities of the Supervisor include the evaluation and recommendation for advancement of Team Members through work elements. The Supervisor is also responsible for budget development and data analysis related to equipment and team member performance. They will participate in improvement of team member development, departmental metrics, safety awareness, energy conservation, and environmental initiatives. 

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Interpret equipment technical data/manuals/drawings, mechanical P&IDs/flow diagrams, electrical wiring diagrams, mechanical and electrical physical drawings.
  • Manage and develop maintenance team leaders. Assist in their development to make decisions, collaborate with team members, implement 4 step problem solving, 4M methodology and Job Task Analysis.
  • Schedule and coordinate PM support and emergency outside service support as needed.
  • Provide technical problem-solving assistance for maintenance techs and engineering project leaders.
  • Utilize the data derived from the established CMMS (Limble) for inventory and asset management to define reliability gaps and achieve defined improvement targets.
  • Participate in preventive, predictive, and autonomous maintenance programs as designated by the Reliability Engineer to improve asset reliability and extend life cycle.
  • Perform asset risk assessments, asset life cycle evaluations and develop productivity and cost savings improvements.
  • Provide required maintenance leadership support for equipment reliability programs, TPM, and maintenance/fabrication improvement teams.

To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:

  • Leadership experience, in charge of people or directing the work of others.
  • Associate degree in a technical or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, e.g., 4-Step A3 Problem Solving process.
  • Exhibit sound practices in issue identification, analysis, and resolution in accordance with S&C’s four-step problem solving process.
  • Apply industry and government codes and standards, company safety practices and procedures.
  • Possess strong technical problem solving and team leadership skills, ability work in a team environment.
  • Knowledge in CMMS usage to develop KPI metrics that drive equipment reliability improvements.
  • Use effective verbal, non-verbal, and listening skills to meet S&C’s business objectives.
  • Inspires team members to share and exchange information within his/her area and across S&C so more effective and thoughtful decisions can be made.
  • Maintain calm and poise in fast-paced and challenging situations. Demonstrate a keen ability to place the goals of the situation and business ahead of individual personalities.
  • Give credit when due and clarify the consequences of poor performance.
  • Partner with team members to leverage learning resources to address gaps between current and desired performance.
  • Find development opportunities to retain current high potential team members either within their team or within S&C.
  • Anticipate hiring and succession needs for S&C and take a proactive approach to recruiting individuals who are a good match for specific jobs and/or are high potential team members.
  • Computer literacy with office software (MS Office products, CAD software, etc.).
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
