One Care is a fully integrated Medicare and Medicaid product that serves individuals between the ages of 21 and 64 who have physical and intellectual disabilities.

This position has overall responsibility for managing a behavioral health, field-based Care Management team located in Massachusetts. Responsibilities include training, management and ongoing development of a clinical team serving dual-eligible members. The Manager will ensure the timeliness and appropriateness of the services provided by the Care Managers and that all services provided are conducted in accordance with care management processes and guidelines.  This position will oversee compliance of all Federal and State requirements and regulations. Work assignments may be received with little or no technical instruction and require the selection of a course of action and resolution of complex or unique problems with considerable latitude for independent judgment to develop procedures and systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides clinical direction, administration and leadership for a field-based behavioral health Care Management team
  • Monitors the performance of clinical staff to ensure standards and targets are being met
  • Facilitates team meetings, attends clinical rounds with the Optum Behavioral Health UM Team, UM Manager, Care Management team and Medical Director as part of the supervisory process to help ensure appropriate treatment and support resources for members
  • Maintains master schedule of care management staff to ensure availability for all necessary direct care management functions as well as coordination of some after hours on-call coverage
  • Works with the Quality Assurance Specialist and Reporting and Technology Manager to identify reporting needs and review weekly reports to prompt clinical individual and team-based interventions
  • Conducts internal team record audits and prepares and/or monitors the preparation of documentation required for desk reviews and onsite audits
  • Represents health plan in various administrative meetings with state and county officials and other entities involved in the provision and monitoring of services
  • Maintains knowledge of current legislation and State and Federal administrative codes

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensed Psychiatric APRN or other APRN license with behavioral health experience
  • Active, unrestricted State of Massachusetts professional license
  • 5+ years of experience in the Behavioral Health field
  • 2+ years of leadership experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated competence in clinical care management, strong leadership and organization skills
  • Interpretation of State and federal laws and regulations relevant to the mental health program area
  • Experience in the CMS and State of MA mental health and substance abuse services delivery
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of public and commercial mental health service delivery systems
  • Knowledge of evidence-based, best and promising practice methods and procedures and strong customer service orientation
