Manufacturing Project Engineer
Georgia-Pacific Dixie Consumer Products Operation is seeking qualified professionals to consider for a Manufacturing Project Engineer role supporting the Continuous Manufacturing Group Operations located in Fort Smith, AR. The Fort Smith facility uses state of the art technology to manufacture Dixie® plates in a progressive production environment. Dixie® is a brand of choice and is widely used in homes and businesses across the country.
In this role you will possess the ability to challenge the status quo to facilitate continuous improvement; collaborate across roles and diverse groups, gather, and share feedback; stay current in best practices and be a continuous learner. This role is primarily responsible for developing and leading the implementation capital projects at the plant. This individual will also provide technical support to maintenance and operations.
What You Will Do In Your Role
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
* Develop bid specifications, project schedules and budget estimates for engineering and design, and construction
* Reinforce safe construction supervision of all construction activities.
* Perform review of drawings developed internally or as part of contractor bid submittal packages
* Prepare equipment and system requirements including design as required, specifications, construction scopes of work and request for quotations (RFQs) that meet project objectives
* Perform contractor analyses and participate in contractor selection, contract development, and contractor supervision as required
* Execute reliable operations with a focus on design for reliability
* Expand and refine in-house technical capabilities
* Effective execution of the Project Work Processes and Plant Improvement Processes
* Manage capital, working capital, fixed asset ledger, cost reduction projects to yield target returns
* Work with internal and external resources (including engineering resources) to organize and execute projects as defined in the Venture Scope of Work (VSW). This includes design, construction/installation, commissioning, startup, and documentation activities.
* Use economic thinking when evaluating alternatives/equipment/vendors/contractors.
The Experience You Will Bring
Minimum Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or GED
* Experience developing and presenting information in a one-on-one and/or group setting
* Experience leading and/or working on capital (longer term investment) projects
* Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment
What Will Put You Ahead
* Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering field
* Experience working in a paper manufacturing environment
* Experience working in SAP
