Job Description

Salary range: $44,000 - $73,400

General Description and Classification Standards Responsible for managing all aspects of fleet requisitioning, receiving, assigning, commissioning, decommissioning, titling, title management, registering, and surplusing. Develops all vehicle specifications for departments to provide the most efficient equipment options for their operational needs.

Supervision Received
Works independent and follows standardized policies, procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The candidate will be required to conduct and oversee the following tasks:
  • Work with internal departments and vendors to develop vehicle and equipment specifications
  • Ensure new vehicles and equipment are requisitioned timely
  • Ensure vehicles are registered and titled timely
  • Ensure vehicle files and titles are maintained according to City, State, and Federal standards
  • Ensure vehicles and equipment are commissioned and decommissioned according to City standards Surplus and auction retired vehicles and equipment
  • Assign and distribute vehicles and equipment to departments
  • Assign unit numbers and input vehicle and equipment data into the Fleet Management System
  • Work with external vendors to coordinate vehicle deliveries per the contract guidelines Inspect, operate, test and repair light duty, medium duty, and heavy duty equipment for proper operation Issue and monitor commercial fuel card usage, compliance and reporting issues
  • Manage all city fuel sites and fuel deliveries Implement, revise and/or create standard operating procedures according to industry standards
Decision Making
Follows and selects from multiple standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.

Leadership Provided
Manages Asset Management Section and personnel.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of modern automotive mechanical principles and procedures
  • Proficient with computers and standard fleet and fuel management software packages
  • Basic knowledge pf government procurement principles and procedures
  • Ability to read and comprehend property documentation to meet deadlines in a timely manner
  • Ability and desire to work in a positive, fast paced and high energy environment
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills required
  • Good written and oral communication skills
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or any other related field.
5 years of fleet management or management experience
5 years of Procurement experience

Preferred Education & Experience
5 years of procurement experience 5-7 years of fleet management experience
Prior technician/mechanic experience

Licensures and Certifications
Valid Georgia Driver's License
