Job Description

Serves as first point of contact providing assistance and managing questions via phone, email, and in person. Provides accurate information to students, parents, faculty and university departments who seek help with university-related questions or problems, or with the services available at the Student Advocates Office. Explains a variety of university and academic policies and procedures. Manages client intake services for the office using the Symplicity case management system. Makes appointments and manages drop-in traffic for the office. Coordinates logistical arrangements for staff meetings and training sessions. Manages office forms. Monitors office supplies and reorders as needed. Manages incoming/outgoing mail for the office.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED and one year office experience.

Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat and ability to work confidently with numbers in the preparation of documents and reports, including loan fund repayment accounts.

Possess excellent communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently, be aware of confidentiality protocols and be able to work with a diverse group of people in a respectful and pleasant manner. Ability to diffuse stressful situations. Ability to listen non-judgmentally and with care as this position assists students experiencing academic, financial, and conduct obstacles.

Preferred Qualifications 

College degree. IU experience. Experience with client or human services focus in a higher education setting.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands 

20 Hours/Week. This is a temporary position in the Student Advocates Office.
