Job Description

Maxim Healthcare Services is currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide services at the Fort Leonard Wood Army Base in Fort Leonard Wood, MO.

Additional Information
• 1099 Independent Contractor (Maxim provides liability/malpractice coverage) –
• Offering $75-80/hr. on 1099 depending on experience.
• Long term contract position. Base year through 2020 with extension options to 2024. Would also consider short-term contract.
• Hospital: 18-23 patients/day (retirees, active duty, dependents) or Clinic: Up to 30 patients/day (15-20 at a time, will need to triage). The provider will only be assigned to one location; they will not float between the two.

Experience/Qualifications Needed:
• Active, Unrestricted license in any US state
• Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner
• Physician Assistant / Physician Extender

• Full Time; 40 hours per week
• 8 or 10 hour shifts between 6:00am-6:00pm, excluding holidays

Position Details:
The health care worker shall perform all procedures and duties that are normal to the scope of that provider’s particular specialty and for which privileges are granted by the military training facility. These are essentially the same duties as those required of any Medical Corps Officer or government Civil Service health care worker of similar experience and in similar duty assignments. The health care worker shall provide services to all authorized beneficiaries of any age.

Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Perform all tasks in this contract independently.
• Provide care for outpatients and inpatients as needed.
• Have inpatient admitting responsibilities and perform inpatient rounds.
• Perform chart reviews and attend medical staff meetings as part of the normal workday.
• Treat an average of 21 patients per day for an 8 hours shift and 27 patients per day for a 10 hours shift to include completing charting, processing telephone consults and review radiology/lab results.
• Provide initial emergency medical care required to any civilian, military or military beneficiary requiring it in life threatening situations. Patients shall be transferred to the appropriate military or civilian hospital when the attending HCW determines that the patient is stable enough to make the trip.
• Interview patients, diagnose illnesses, prescribe treatments and medicine, perform minor surgery and refer patients to military or civilian hospitals for more complex medical problems.
• Provide comprehensive and continuing health and medical care services e.g. diagnosis, prevention, therapy, maintenance and rehabilitation.
• Manage the health care needs of patients with serious illnesses through consultation or direct referral to specialty physicians.
• Perform only those services for which privileges have been granted by the GLWACH credentials committee.
• See patients in the inpatient setting at GLWACH as needed.
• Write prescriptions only for medications within the scope of work of the HCW. Medications beyond the scope of work of the HCW require interaction with physicians from other clinics.
• Complete medical records, forms and documents within time limits specified by GLWACH for the type of medical entry being made.
• Check GLWACH e-mail daily since the HCW will work varying schedules and GLWACH e-mail is the official method of internal communications.
• Take the patient history and perform medical surveillance physicals on appointed military and Department of Army Civilians.
• Request lab tests, x rays, pharmaceuticals, referrals, etc. via the CHCS computer system.
• Request consultations and procedures as considered appropriate.
• Study health records and evaluate the significance of total clinical evidence.
