Mechanical Engineer I-III

 

Job Summary:

This position will assist the SWBS Section Lead with completing scope of work, developing bid and proposal responses including, the creation of technical and pricing strategies and resulting in the preparation and submission of proposal within an assigned SWBS section.









Responsibilities:

-Create content for presentations to US Coast Guard (USCG) Customer

-Analyze fuel, HVAC, hydraulic, steering, and propulsion systems to determine size requirements, power requirements, performance curves, and associated losses

-Develop budgets and schedules, manage performance, report progress, and initiate action to assure program/project objectives and schedules are met

-Establish functional and acceptance test plans for system designs

-Work with Weight Manager to monitor and control the weight of the systems to meet design targets

-Create and review Engineering Change Notifications to formally release design data

-System life-cycle activities - including System Requirements Review (SRR), System Design Review (SDR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Detailed/Critical Design Review (DDR/CDR)

-Create engineering reports to show compliance with project requirements based on design, test,

-Develop engineering deliverables in accordance with engineering processes, ensuring safe, fit for purpose engineering deliverables, and presenting material associated with the above life-cycle reviews

-Coordinate with sub-contractors and vendors to receive inputs to design activities

-Develop ShipConstructor 3D models and associated 2D drawings/schematics in accordance with company, industry, and project standards

-Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with the specifications, drawings, and terms of the contract including ABS standards within assigned SWBS section



 

 



Requirements:

-Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 1-10 years of experience in navigation, communication, video, power generation, and control & alarm systems



-Proficient in MS Office, Project, and Access



-Understanding of the project management process as defined by the PMI PMBOK



-Time Management - Managing one's own time. Ensuring that all aspects of the program are met on and according to schedule



-Experience with government procurement and contracting



-Experience working in small teams of engineers
