Location: Elwood, IN Salary: $70,000-80,000 Description: Our client is currently seeking a Plant Mechanical Engineer. This role will oversee the installation, maintenance and repair and operation of all equipment in the facility. This role will also be required to design tools, and other mechanical systems for the plant.
This job will have the following responsibilities:
Develop and lead engineering and maintenance strategies
Direct and lead Maintenance Technicians
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
Maintain a professional and well-motivated team, ensuring appropriate training and development to ensure succession for all key positions
Establish policies and procedures within all areas of responsibility
Respond to facility issues and problems, including emergency situations, on a 24/7 basis
Develop and maintain contracts and equipment for, HVAC & air filtration systems, fire protection systems/equipment, outside grounds, roof, warehouse dock equipment, lighting, building shell, etc.
Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
Direct work and activities of suppliers, contractors, consultants and designers, as require
Develop and complete tasks and projects in a timely manner
Collaborate with Production departments on resolution of issues concerning facilities and equipment
Ensure compliance with federal, state and local codes
Responsible for maintaining the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
Manage projects, recommend actions and resolve problems
Provide leadership for the continuous improvement and optimization of manufacturing processes
Improve safety, quality and operational reliability
Provide root cause and failure analysis, as required
Maintain an efficient and safe working environment
Perform regular audits on company safety and maintenance programs
Prepare capital requests and justifications for improvement projects
Examine, review and approve purchase orders, blueprint designs and specifications
Review and improve procedures, safety programs and audit findings
Ensure maintenance team are completing safety PMs, safety team meetings and safety inspections
Validate systems and establish optimal set points and limits
Ensure that all work is done safely, on time, with high quality results and in a cost effective manner
Identify, design and implement reliability improvements focused on increased equipment availability and reduced life-cycle cost
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering Required
2-3 years of experience in Aerospace manufacturing
Demonstrates strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Able to competently handle a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
Demonstrates strong interpersonal communications skills, written and verbal
Demonstrates strong work ethic and displays a high degree of professionalism
