We're looking for an
Instrumentation
and Controls Engineer  in
Manassas, VA who is excited about working on advanced facilities site based projects that enable the heart of of our clients business.  Join us and you’ll have the chance to work on projects including state of the art industrial and commercial facilities. You’ll be accountable for schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. You’ll also provide on-site assistance during startup, coordinate work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead. Your multi-discipline, highly interactive team will produce designs for electrical circuits and panels utilizing control applications, designs for control systems for a variety of processes, and develop options and optimizations for all aspects of the process control, instrumentation, and automation.

Here’s what you’ll perform:

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of instrumentation control for manufacturing process equipment and associated safety and automation systems.
  • Provide engineering trouble-shooting and problem solving of existing equipment, and implementing system upgrades and modifications.
  • Provide in process support of controls in a manufacturing environment.
  • Design of facility control systems and SCADA projects.
  • Design of P&ID's, loop drawings, and detailed wiring diagrams.
  • Perform technical and business presentations with clients and employees.
  • Perform quality reviews on designs performed by others.
  • Participate in the development of proposals, budgets and schedules for process specific work.


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
  • 10 years engineering experience with 5 Years of experience working with Instrumentation and Control
  • Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of PLC systems, industrial control networks, network security systems, motor control and power distribution systems.
  • Experience designing PLC based systems including Allen Bradley, Schnieder Modicon, or Siemens based systems.  .
  • Control valve sizing and selection.
  • Specification of temperature, pressure, flow, and analytical instrumentation. 
  • Control panel design.  Understand NFPA and UL508A requirements for control panels.
  • P&ID development
  • Engineering specifications.
  • Sequence of operation (SOO) development.
  • Work close with client to develop project scope and support cost estimates. 
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electric Code) and building codes.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Suite including MS Word, Access, Outlook and Excel and project delivery and schedule management software tools. 
  • This is a hybrid position that will require working a minimum of 50% of the time at the client site. Preference to local candidates.  Well qualified candidates will be considered for mileage and expense reimbursement or relocation package to move to Manassas Va.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Ability to lead small design team
  • Experience in the semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or data center industries.
  • Professional Engineer license in State of Virginia.  Or ability to immediately obtain.
  • Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas 
  • Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base 
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams 
  • Industrial design experience including pharmaceutical manufacturing, semiconductor facilities, data center, or similar.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks
