Service Manager

TruckPro is seeking an experienced Service Manager. This position will be responsible for planning, controlling, and directing the repair of medium to heavy duty trucks and all models of trailers. The Service Manager will act as a customer service representative to develop sales relationships with customers and other TruckPro associates.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Supervise the shop mechanics staff.
• Monitor the profit/loss of each job and the department.
• Identify and diagnose problems to drive solutions and alignment with culture, values and business needs.
• Prepare and confirm all work estimates
• Submit work orders for invoicing.
• Develop strategy to increase service business as to utilize all technicians efficiently.
• Ensure customers are informed on completion times, services expenses, and possible changes.
• Facilitate effective management of production schedules.
• Hire and lead technicians and supervisor.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety requirements.
• Oversee and participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of annual operating budgets, ensuring that operations are managed within established guidelines.
• Monitor the daily production of shop to ensure that all production standards are met and consistent with pricing schedules.
• Repair brakes, and perform suspension work (replace springs, u-bolts, radius rods, equalizers, etc.).
• Replace air valves and brake chambers.
• Troubleshoot, replace or repair air systems.
• Mount fifth wheels; install hydraulic kits; and rebuild or repair engines.
• Assure all parts and materials are listed on work order.
• Clean work area as required and maintain equipment.
• Maintain clean and safe shop.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Non-Essential Duties & Functions:
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Coordinate vendor training and support with customer base.
• Responsible for knowing all product lines.
• Routine maintenance of company truck; Maintain valid driver’s license.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Education & Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Candidates must have a minimum of three to five years of related service or shop services leadership experience.

Skills & Abilities:
• Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational, practical problem solving, communication and analytical skills and handle a variety of concrete variables
• Heavy Duty Trucks and Trailer mechanical ability
• Knowledge of all Microsoft Office Products and plus
• Out-of-box thinker who can effectively use and improve existing business processes, systems & tools

The work is active. Typically, the associate will lift, pull and move heavy duty truck parts that might be in excess of 50 lbs. The associate will also have to do the following throughout the day: walking, bending, twisting, stepping, stooping, reaching, lifting, and pushing.

While performing the primary duties of the job, the associate will be regularly exposed to dirt, dust, fumes, and noise and temperature variances.
