NDT Level II
Job Description: NDT Level II Inspector
This position involves performing engineering evaluations, including defect analysis, nondestructive testing (NDT) methods analysis, and inspections. A minimum of Level II certification is required for inspection tasks. Responsibilities include preparing, revising, reviewing, and approving nondestructive technique sheets, evaluating supplier techniques and procedures, and preparing and reviewing engineering specifications. Additionally, the role involves developing and evaluating new equipment and technology, designing and evaluating inspection reference standards, and providing technical support to manufacturing, engineering, programs, field personnel, and suppliers. Internal NDT inspection audits and participation in the development of NDT training course materials for Level I, II, and III are also required. Testing and certifying NDT Level I, II, and III inspectors in accordance with NAS 410 and company requirements is another key duty.
Basic Qualifications:
- Current ASNT Level I/II Certifications preferred, with documented qualifications to certify to NAS 410 Level I/II in:
- Liquid Penetrant (PT)
- Ability to certify to NAS 410 Level I/II requirements in all qualified methods within 90 days of employment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and database utilization
Desired Skills:
- Experience applying liquid penetrant to parts (dip, spray, brush), processing through systems using manual and/or computer menus (wash, dry, develop), and inspecting parts under darkened conditions with UV black light for defects, as per drawings and specifications
- Ability to identify and document discrepancies
- Experience performing re-work inspections
- NDT experience with weldments
- Multiple NDT Level III certifications are a plus
- Familiarity with NAVAIR Nondestructive Inspection (NDI) manuals and processes
- Familiarity with ASTM-E1417 NDT standards
- Technical writing experience
- Familiarity with AS9100 and Nadcap audit requirements for NDT special processes
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
