Job Description:

Leidos Defense and Intelligence group is seeking an Engineering Tech V. The candidate, under the direction of the Engineering Manager, will support the efforts of the Naval Array Technical Support Center (NATSC) as a member of their Production Support Team. NATSC is the repair depot for US Navy towed acoustic sensors and is located in Newport, RI.

The successful candidate's duties include repairing Jigs/Tools/Test Equipment (JTF), inspecting and polishing fiber optic cables, performing Preventive Maintenance (PM) on NATSC JTF, and building/repairing electrical pigtail assemblies and Measurement Quality Jumpers (MQJs) in accordance with detailed procedures. JTF repair efforts include using test equipment to take measurement readings and assess the working condition of JTF items (i.e. Pressure Adapters, Tension Fixtures, etc.) and perform necessary repairs to return the item to working condition. JTF PM efforts include taking fiber and electrical measurements using test equipment as defined in established PM Cards. The selected candidate will provide fiber optic training to depot personnel.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Candidates must have a minimum high school diploma or equivalent, and at least three years related experience.
  • Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a DOD security clearance at the SECRET level.
  • Candidates must be capable of soldering wires and inspecting and polishing fiber optic cables. Candidates must be able to read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
  • Prior experience at the Navy Array Technical Support Center (NATSC) as a repair line supervisor or senior technician.
  • Experience performing diagnostics/troubleshooting and electronic repairs at the component level using copper and fiber optic signal path repair procedures/techniques using formal work procedures and documented quality standards.
  • Functional knowledge and experience with NATSC capital equipment including, but not limited to, that used with array hosing/dehosing, pressure, tension, and handling testing, and automated/semi-automated electronic test equipment.
  • Experience using the NATSC Depot Application (NDA) and MasterControl document control system.
  • An advanced technical degree is a plus.
