Then the Director of Camp Services position at the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds Rockland County location, a not-for-profit operating in the day camp sphere, may be the perfect job for you. This unique seasonal position, paying a salary of $20,000 (approx. 75% is paid out from April 1 - August 31) combines operations support with program management that includes seasonal staff hiring and supervision.

ABOUT THE HENRY KAUFMANN CAMPGROUNDS
Home to 11 independently run JCC day camps, the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds is a small non-profit that manages and operates three facilities located in Long Island, Rockland County and Staten Island.
As a seasonal organization, HKC hires 300+ seasonal workers that provide maintenance and janitorial services, aquatics supervision and security to ensure we can carry out our mission to meet the needs of the camps who run their programs at HKC and providing a safe environment to do so.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE DIRECTOR OF CAMP SERVICES
The Director of Camp Services is the front-line HKC representative to the four camps at HKC Rockland County, serving as their liaison with HKC operations (maintenance, security and aquatics). During the summer, when camp is in session, this individual is focused on ensuring operations run safely and smoothly, and that the camps' needs are met while also overseeing the HKC staff experience, providing high-level support for the Aquatics program, including team building activities and training for new leaders.
During the off-season the Director of Camp Services will be available to meet with management and provide information as management plans the upcoming summer. In the spring, the Director of Camp Services is responsible for the hiring of the aquatics staff and working with management on the planning and execution of staff orientation and training.
The successful candidate will have exceptional people skills, strong emotional intelligence and the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
The Director of Camp Services will be joining an organization that values collaboration, initiative, respect and employee satisfaction. Reporting to the Chief of Staff this position will be working directly with the Property Manager, the Aquatics Director and the HR Manager to carry out the mission of the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds.
WORK SCHEDULE
During the camp season (early-June - the last day of camp), this position is on-site full-time, Monday - Friday with the work day starting no later than 8:00am and ending no earlier than 4:15pm (when camp is in session). From September - January, the Director of Camp Services is expected to be available but not expected to put in more than 5-10 hours each month. Hours begin increasing gradually in January with the work load growing to 10 - 20 hours per week in April and May as hiring increases.
QUALIFICATIONS
Our ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree or the equivalent, three or more years of management experience at a day or overnight camp, have experience hiring and supervising staff and conflict resolution. They should also have strong oral and written communication skills, be skilled in utilizing computer software to manage and execute tasks, and be calm under pressure.
And if someone is experienced in conflict management, has worked as a camp director, or has experience supervising teens and other young adults, even better.
