JOB SUMMARY: The Development Specialist supports the Fund Development department on initiatives that increase awareness of Think Togethers mission, engage donors in community events, and drive philanthropic revenue. This position will serve as a liaison to community partners and internal stakeholders, coordinate all volunteer engagements, and support the department with team meetings and activities.
The Development Specialist will work remotely four days a week and from the Think Together Home Office in Santa Ana one day a week (or more often as needed). Must be willing to work weekends or evenings as needed and travel for events within our primary fundraising regions: Los Angeles, Palms Springs, Bay Area, and the Inland Empire.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Community engagement
Manage relationships with community volunteer groups and organizations.
Strategically plan and execute all volunteer engagements, including learning kit builds, school site visits, career panels, financial literacy workshops, supply, and book drives, etc.
Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, such as Marketing, Production, Facilities, and regional staff.
Collaborate with regional leaders and teams to identify and communicate opportunities that may be leveraged to engage donors and/or generate brand awareness.
Set goals, track activities, and communicate status of external outreach efforts.
Support the planning and execution of donor salon and stewardship events. Prospecting and stewardship
Cultivate relationships with volunteers and partners in support of annual fundraising target.
Conduct prospect research and support the department with building donor profiles.
Support with special projects such as holiday cards, annual report mailings, and annual donor stewardship campaigns Other/administrative duties
Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner, building excitement among external audiences for the work and mission of the organization.
Promptly respond to and resolve all inquiries from donors or other external constituents, proactively seeking out assistance if answer not known; answer incoming calls/emails to the department.
Manage scheduling, logistics, reservations, birthday celebrations, and recognition to further Fund Development team productivity and team health.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree required.
At least 3 years of professional experience, preferably in a role requiring community outreach, fundraising, event management, and/or project coordination.
Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
Well-rounded interpersonal skills with the capacity to build strong internal and external relationships and work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
Self-motivated work style and ability to identify needs and propose solutions.
Flexible mindset and adaptable to changing priorities.
Strong attention to detail
Demonstrable passion and commitment to working in the field of education.
Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 25 pounds.
Provide and maintain a clear TB test throughout employment.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain highest degree of confidentiality.
Comply with organization policies and follow procedures.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
File Management (One Drive, Box, Dropbox, etc.)
Email, internet, website, and social media platforms
Use of typical office equipment
Experience with Salesforce preferred.
Salary: $66,700-$70,500/yr
