Pay Range: $17 - $20/hour.  Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience: 

• We are seeking a seasonal employee like you to provide support to the watermelon breeding and product development team.
• The intern will work with research and breeding programs to learn techniques and decision-making criteria as it relates to vegetable hybrid/cultivar development.
• Assist in breeding programs and product development with field phenotyping and data capture
• Assist in harvest and yield data collection
• Help to execute greenhouse planting and on farm field trial execution, observation, and evaluation
• Able to regularly lift 50 lbs.
• Knowledge, Skills and Ability
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Familiarity with watermelon production or ability to learn.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Methodical and thorough working habits.
• Demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues, supervisors and managers at all times.
• Work well under pressure in order to meet multiple, and sometimes, competing deadlines.
• Ability to bend, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work in field under varying conditions & ability to walk several miles per day.
• A valid driver's license and availability for overnight trips
• Vehicle Will be provided; Cell phone and laptop provided
• Minimum High school diploma or GED
• Pursuing a degree in Agriculture or a related field
• Prior lab/field experience
