SUMMARY
The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining relationships with related entities (GC, NAD, etc.) and performing monthly reconciliations of the accounts receivables accounts, processing planned giving contributions, managing deposits completed by caging service, recording fund designation entries of contributions received, recording corporate credit cards payments and allocations, managing fixed assets and equipment, providing assistance to the financial reporting team with general functions including preparing journals, creating and distributing reports, general inquiries, and audit support.

PRE-REQUISITES
Required
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
* Prior experience working with accounting software is helpful.
* Other skills and abilities that are required:
* Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
* Analytical ability to interpret and analyze data for reports.
* Accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently, in an organized manner and with excellent follow through.
Preferred
* Second language preferred.
* 0-5 years of work experience preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manage the GC and NAD A/R accounts by preparing monthly reconciliations, coordinating the distribution of intercompany memos to assigned accountants, recording assigned transactions and contributions, and following up on outstanding reconciliations items in a timely manner
* Process planned giving donations, determine revenue or receivable in consultation with Senior Accountant and submit for deposit, communicate treatment to Donor Services, and reconcile contribution receivables monthly
* Manage the deposits completed by caging service and recorded by accounting clerk
* Record fund designation entries of contributions received with clerk support
* Record corporate credit card payments and allocations to AR accounts
* Manage the distribution of the monthly cost centre reports in ADRAnet
* Create and provide quarterly create/post report
* Manage fixed assets and equipment in inventory system, including reviewing cost centre activity for fixed assets and equipment, and prepare and record the monthly depreciation
* Prepare the annual value of assets for HR and ARM for insurance coverage
* Facilitate the year-end inventory of fixed assets and equipment
* Assist in completing financial surveys and reporting such as Better Business Bureau and prepare some registrations such as D.C. Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs Non-profit Corporation Domestic Report filing (bi-annually), State of Maryland Personal Property Return (annually), and DC Unclaimed Property Report (annually).
* PBC (Prepared by Client) - prepare and provide documents and questions related to areas of responsibility
