Senior Systems Engineer - End User Engineering job in Raleigh at Advance Auto Parts

In this role, the Senior Systems Engineer will help translate requirements created by functional analysts into the engineering for that solution and describing it through engineering and design artifacts. You will work in partnership with the business and other IT teams, advising them how to use information technology in order to meet their business requirements and needs.

The Senior Systems Engineer acts under general directions and with limited supervision with the ability to provide technical leadership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

• Provide expert technical assistance to the engineering team.
• Improve reliability and efficiency of business systems through the identification and implementation of new procedures to better support end users.
• Hands on engineering efforts with many different hardware types for the enterprise.
• Conduct research as needed to gain a thorough understanding of a products system specifications.
• Show a pattern of improvement in technical skill and professional growth through formal and peer education opportunities.
• Analyze customers’ IT needs; provide independent and objective advice for improvement.
• Implement agreed-upon solutions for new and improved systems.
• Assist projects through the change-management process.
• Design, test, and document hardware/software products, and work with the support team so they can implement and take operational ownership of the product.
• Prepare documentation and progress reports for IT

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Profound communication skills with in-depth understanding of the technologies you are dealing with on a day-to-day basis.
• Strong operating systems background (Microsoft and Apple preferred).
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Be able to collaborate with teams with varying levels of technical backgrounds and experiences

DESIRED SKILLS

• Experience building, updating or maintaining Windows imaging solutions (Windows 7, Windows 10, and Server2012r2) and Apple OS.
• Experience designing, building, implementing and supporting solutions in a large-scale distributed environment.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as SCCM, JAMF, KACE, BigFix, SOTI, Intune, Group Policy, etc.
• Background in Retail.
• Some understanding of Networking concepts (e.g., DHCP, DNS, and IP schema).
• Some scripting background (e.g., PowerShell, AutoIT, or VBS)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field; and

5-7 years of experience in Systems Engineering; or

Equivalent combination of education and experience.
