Job Description: Are you licensed in the State of Indiana as a QMA? Interested in providing assistance to residents with the activities of daily living? The time is now for a more rewarding career.  We are currently searching for dedicated and compassionate Qualified Medication Aides (QMAs) to join our care team.  Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the qualified medication aide performs care tasks and medication administration within the QMA scope of practice in order to maintain the highest practicable level of physical, mental, and psychosocial wellbeing for residents.  Duties and Responsibilities: Administers non-parenteral medications and performs treatments according to written physicians’ orders and scope of practice. Notes any adverse reactions and takes appropriate measures, including notifying charge nurses and/or director of health services. Administers PRN medication and performs PRN treatments upon authorization of charge nurses, nursing supervisor, and/or the director of health services. Makes routine rounds of assigned residents. Performs restorative nursing procedures and provides follow-up. Understands and supports social service and activity programming. Functions as a certified nursing assistant when assigned by the charge nurse, nursing supervisor, and/or the director of health services. Maintains accountability for charting in writing medications, treatments, vital signs, nurses’ notes, restraint records, and any other pertinent information. Prepares residents for the day or night as necessary by assisting with bathing, dressing and activities of daily living. Takes, reads, and records temperatures, pulses, respirations, blood pressures, and weights. Handles problems with difficult or disturbed residents, family or sponsor/surrogate. Provides non-medicated skin care which requires reading assignment sheet, obtaining skin care product(s), and application to the skin. This process may include back rubs. Recognizes and reports unusual signs or symptoms to the charge nurse, director of nursing, and/or the executive director. Assists residents activities. Distributes and removes bedpans and urinals. Changes incontinent residents as necessary and rinses dirty linen before sending to the laundry. Performs oral intake and urinary output when assigned and documents electronically. Observes and reports unusual symptoms, changes, accidents, and injuries to the charge nurse in a timely manner. Communicates verbally with resident while carrying out procedures. Assures anxious and disoriented residents in order to alleviate fears and to put them at ease. Responds to call lights by sight or sound in a timely manner and provides or obtains the necessary care. Assures proper body alignment of all residents at all times in accordance with the capabilities of each resident. Assists and supports non-ambulatory residents in range of motion exercises at least twice daily. Collects specimens for testing upon instruction of the charge nurse. Assumes responsibility for completion of tasks listed on written assignment sheet within specified time frame and reports off to charge nurse when shift ends. Documents electronically, pertinent information on resident records (e.g. BM logs, daily skin sheets, ADL sheets, etc.) according to facility policy and Indiana State Department of Health regulations. Assists with post-mortem care. Follows facility written policies for infection control. Keeps all drawers, closets and resident rooms neat. Gives nail care as necessary to all residents except DIABETIC residents or residents with poor circulation. Passes fresh ice water and nourishments to residents at specified times. Cleans equipment pertaining to the nursing services department (e.g. bedpans, wheelchairs, etc.) at specified times. Assists with the admission, transfer, and discharge of residents. Maintains awareness of the physical and psychological needs of a dying resident and the family members. In performance of assigned job duties, interacts with residents in a cheerful/positive manner and shall be respectful of resident’s personal belongings.

Job Requirements:

Certified Nursing Assistant in good-standing with an active CMA certification. Current CPR Certification and Previous geriatric experience preferred. Certified Nursing Assistant / CNA
