We are searching for an experienced Benefit Specialist.
Under general supervision, is responsible for administering selected benefit programs in compliance with federal, state and local regulations and established Credit Union policies in accordance with the specified benefits plan documents.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties
Responsible for assisting team members with questions regarding TCU health plans.
Responsible for communicating and administering TCU Health plan and any plan changes.
Responsible with assisting team members with questions regarding the TCU retirement plan.
Responsible for communicating annual retirement plan changes and benefit plan enhancements.
Responsible for ensuring team members are aware of the regulatory limits regarding the TCU Retirement Plan.
Responsible for coordinating participation in and responsible for the administration of the 401(k) plan, which includes year-end reporting, ADP/ACP compliance testing, communications to team members with plan changes and updates and coordinating the enrollment process.
Responsible for verifying enrollment forms and reconciling vendor invoices to team member records to ensure accuracy against payroll deductions and vendor contracts.
Researches discrepancies between payroll deductions and vendor billings to determine if adjustments are required.
Responsible for managing annual open enrollment campaign, including updating team member information materials, coordinate wellness screenings, distributing enrollment packets, collecting and verifying participant enrollment paperwork, and coordinating benefit changes in correspondence with vendor contracts.
Assists in the evaluation and analysis of existing programs, as well as new programs, and proposes and modifications.
Responsible for staying current on health industry and regulatory changes.
Assumes additional responsibilities as necessary for the continued growth and advancement of the Credit Union.
Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
Excellent written and verbal and communication skills.
Excellent organization and time management skills
Ability to multi-task and high attention to detail.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability and willingness to present a positive and professional image, both internally and externally.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Accountable for the effective administration of the benefit plans.
Responsible for plan compliance with all government regulatory and legislative rulings.
Responsible for the accurate maintenance of employee records.
Self-starter and ability to exercise independent judgment.
Accountable for understanding and applying government laws and regulations and TCU policies and procedures relating to the Anti-Money Laundering Regulations including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), US PATRIOT ACT and OFAC.
Accountable for Performance Management Goals as agreed upon with Supervisor.
Bachelor’s degree or five or more years of equivalent work experience administering benefit plans.
Knowledge of benefits related terminology, including attributes of Cafeteria 125 plans and knowledge of ERISA.
