Job Summary

The Part-Time Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairs and maintenance of all front of house and general maintenance at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. The candidate will perform the daily preventative maintenance program to ensure all areas are functioning to meet guest experience, including exhibits and other building facility needs. Candidate will ensure components are functional, and in clean, presentable condition. In addition the individual will take an active role in the installation, removal, and movement of exhibits including infrastructure, cars, and artifacts. This position will specifically support after-hours event programs and staff vacations, including troubleshooting interactive exhibits and general building maintenance as needed.

Essential Job Duties

* In collaboration with the FT Maintenance Technicians, will maintain a preventative maintenance program for both interior and exterior building to ensure they remain operational and meet welcoming visual expectations.
* Performs maintenance repairs on all public-facing building components including but not limited to lighting, exhibits, flooring, seating, and other guest interfacing needs
* Minimizes down time or closures on the floor to ensure a positive customer experience and maintains a proactive maintenance philosophy regarding operational components to avert downtime.
* Promotes and ensures safety first. Will review and undergo safety training as needed.
* Maintains documentation for standardized maintenance and repair procedures. Maintains a maintenance daily report log and checklists
* Basic electrical to troubleshoot for tripped breakers and understanding of working with 277 volts to maintain lighting through the replacement of bulbs and ballasts in the building.
* Working with the Lead Maintenance Technician; inventory materials, spare parts, tools, and other required equipment and will communicate when purchases are needed.
* Repairs, maintains, and troubleshoots exhibition-related interactives, fixtures, and components and re-fabricate interactives as warranted.
* Performs routine gallery touch-up painting
* Responds to work orders or general requests in a timely manner and reviews team completion to ensure timely responses occur
* Assists with production and fabrication of new exhibit components, fixtures, furniture, and other production tasks as assigned.
* Assists in transporting, uncrating, installing, and handling artifacts and props under the direction of the Exhibits Manager and/or Collections Manager
* Maintains the clean and high-quality look of all public-facing areas
* Back of house upkeep including cleaning and storage of Collections Garage
* Assist with setup and tear down of public programs supported by the internal departments of NHOF and CRVA.
* Works collaboratively with all CRVA departments including but not limited to Engineering, Facility Operations, Food & Beverage, Marketing and Events team.
* May perform other duties as required.
* This position will work a flexible schedule which will consist of nights, weekends and holidays and may be subject to change.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.

Education and Experience

* High School Diploma or GED is required. Associates Degree is strongly preferred.
* Two or more years of general maintenance experience required.
* Previous experience with Exhibit handling, transporting and care is strongly preferred.
* 3-5 years knowledge and experience working on general plumbing, painting and lighting in the maintenance field.

Physical Demands

* The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear.
* The employee is frequently required to stand and walk.

* The noise level in the work environment can vary based on the events within the building.
