General Description: Under general supervision, performs noninvasive tests to determine the diagnosis and treatment of heart disorders.

Administers and records electrocardiographic, exercise tolerance testing, tilt table testing, nuclear cardiology, signal averaging electrocardiographic examinations and administering Holter tests as ordered by a physician.
Responsible for proper placement of electrodes, set and adjust equipment, instruct patient on the care and documentation needed during the testing period.
Identifies normal and abnormal rhythms, conductions and/or wave forms.
Identifies ECG lead groups such as bipolar, unipolar and precordial leads.
Recognizes recording errors and responds appropriately.
Recognizes recording artifacts such as electrical interference, somatic tremor, pacemaker hazards and electrical shock.
Operates equipment and assists cardiologist during special procedures.
May be part of the quick response team for cardiac and respiratory arrests.
Prepares exam results for physician interpretation.
Maintains patient files for all procedures with storage of ECG tracings in the MUSE Cardiovascular Information System.
Performs other duties as assigned
Education: High school degree or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in relevant field is preferred.
Experience: One (1) year of experience as a cardiographic technician
OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of basic cardiac arrhythmia and medical terminology. General knowledge of basic cardiographic techniques and procedures. Good communication skills in answering patient’s concern about the procedure. Ability to establish effective working relationships with coworkers and staff. Some computer skills.
