Underwriter

Our client, a thriving and rapidly expanding credit union, is seeking an experienced Underwriter to join their lending team. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing and underwriting residential/commercial real estate and consumer loan applications, ensuring compliance with the credit union's policies and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and analyze loan applications, including assessing borrower creditworthiness, collateral value, and loan risk


• Conduct thorough due diligence on property and borrower information


• Make loan decisions based on sound underwriting principles and the credit union's lending criteria


• Collaborate with loan officers, processors, and other team members to ensure smooth loan processing


• Stay current with industry trends, regulatory requirements, and the credit union's lending policies


• Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field


• Minimum 4 years of real estate underwriting experience, preferably in a credit union or banking environment


• Strong knowledge of real estate lending principles, practices, and regulatory requirements


• Proficiency with mortgage/consumer loan underwriting software and MS Office applications


• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills


• Detail-oriented and able to work independently as well as collaboratively

The position is currently hybrid with 3 days per week in-office and 2 days remote. A dedicated home office setup with high-speed internet is required for WFH and equipment will be provided.
