Responsibilities for this Project Accountant job include, but are not limited to:
The Project Accountant is responsible for tracking, analyzing, and reporting project financial status. This position ensures that procedures and policies are in place to facilitate effective and efficient financial reporting and ensure compliance with local, state and corporate policies. The Project Accountant directs fiscal operations relating to financial planning, funds management, accounting, reporting and disbarment.
Essential Responsibilities/Job Duties
  • Prepares financial performance reviews and maintaining project financial data.
  • Prepare and maintain project budgets, forecasts and cash flows.
  • Administer supplier contract terms, verify compliance and review payments.
  • Work closely with company management, project management and clients to provide financial insight and reporting on the performance of assigned projects.
  • Ensure that the project fulfills all financial obligations in a timely and economic manner in accordance with established policies and goals.
  • Ability to coordinate accounting activities which includes establishment of accounts and procedures, reporting and record keeping.
  • Understand revenue recognition, project invoicing, journal entry preparation and general accounting rules.
  • Performs month-end closing activities.
  • Process payroll, accounts payable and prepares accounts receivable invoices to customers.
     
  • Qualifications for this Project Accountant job:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • 3-5 years of accounting and budgeting experience.
  • Cost accounting and government fund accounting, preferred.
  • Oracle and Microsoft excel experience a plus
  • Ability to proactively drive the assigned projects and reach the preset objectives.
  • Facilitate and practice security and confidentiality of information.
  • Advanced process development skills.
  • Advanced presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced ability to recognize financial implications of business decisions and strategy.
  • Ability to work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
  • Advanced understanding of business practices and systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Audit and internal control issues.
  • Advanced organizational change management skills.
  • Advanced organizational design and effectiveness knowledge.
  • Advanced process development skills.
  • Advanced quality improvement skills.
