Maybe this job as Senior Engineer in New Haven & Berlin CT (USA) is for you!   SARGENT is a market leader in locksets, high security key systems, door closers, exit devices, electro-mechanical products, and access control systems for new construction, renovation, and replacement applications. The company's customer base includes commercial construction, institutional and industrial markets. Included in SARGENT’s product offerings are windstorm certified locks, hardwired and wireless access control devices, designer levers and an antimicrobial hardware coating.     Visit for bored lock, mortise lock, exit device and key system product specifications.     Senior Engineer Responsibilities: 

Design and implement product improvement, cost reduction, new product development and product issue resolution efforts for Exit Device Engineering. Maintain engineering documentation relative to a product and administer changes to the documentation.  Develop detailed knowledge of the Exit product lines.

  • Provides leadership and review to Designer level staff as direct reports

  • Generate, initiate and complete new product, product improvement and cost reduction ideas based on Market needs.

  • Create robust product designs through the use of design reviews and FMEA tools. 

  • Reviews and Mentors others in DFMA, FMEA, PIP Gateway process

  • Initiate and complete Engineering Change Requests and Product Change Proposals

  • Create 3D models and 2D drawings using Solid Works.

  • Work closely with Production Center teams on product quality improvements

  • Design test plans, interpret data and provide technical support to the Test Lab.

  • Leads cost and value tradeoff analysis (VA/VE)

  • Follow Engineering standards and procedures.

  • Provide written and/or verbal interim project reports and timelines.

  • Estimate time/cost to complete a task and manage a task queue.

  • BSME or higher

  • Minimum of 8 years of industry experience in a product development environment.

  • A strong understanding of the product design/development process, including product construction, materials and manufacturing methods

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems

  • Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and PC Skills

  • Fluent in GD&T, tolerance analysis and process capability.

  • Ability to clearly communicate through a variety of media including hand sketches, modeling, technical drawing, project summaries using written and spoken word

  • Leadership skills, including the ability to influence and motivate others, demonstrated initiative and self-motivation.

  • Capable of creating and supporting system level design and provide mentoring to design level engineers.

  • Fluent at material and process selection

  • Requires occasional travel
