The Talent Development Specialist enhances the total Associate experience across the enterprise, (Dollar Tree and Family Dollar) banners, by developing and implementing talent programs that drive enterprise success. This role is responsible for the development of field and corporate learning and development programs for leadership, management and associate performance improvements. Additionally, this role acts as a liaison with other departments, external vendors, executive leadership and other HR business partners within the organization.
Serve as the Talent Management SME on project teams that implement Talent Management programs across the enterprise including the Store Support Centers, Distribution Centers, and Stores.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Learning Strategy and Solutions Design
  • Responsible for end-to-end solution and program ownership, often in large and mid-to-highly complex efforts
  • Leverages a variety of methodologies, blended learning approaches, and learning design best practices with an emphasis on real-world application relevant for adult learners in a business environment
  • Uses expert consulting skills to lead the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of learning or development experiences to close skill gaps and/or build capability in alignment with talent and business priorities
  • Serve as an internal advisor utilizing benchmarking, industry best practices, market trends and human capital research to build and execute effective performance and development programs for the business.
  • Partner with HR colleagues to identify organizational gaps, recommend changes for improvement, and provide talent management thought leadership, best practice and talent metrics to enhance programs.

Project Management
  • Lead end-to-end project management for strategic talent management initiatives
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale and complex projects and programs effectively
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing workloads to meet competing deadlines and prioritizing multiple stakeholders' needs

Program Design and Development
  • Design and develop content based on various learning approaches: blended learning, embedded on-the-job learning, social / collaborative learning, coaching and mentoring.
  • Continuously challenge and think outside-of-the-box for program improvement – always thinking about how to innovate and elevate program design and execution

  • Serves as primary facilitator and/or instructor as part of solution implementation processes.
  • Delivers learning programs leveraging diverse delivery methods to include experiential learning, blended programs, instructor-led content, gamification, peer learning modules, etc.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to influence throughout the organization, regardless of level or role

Learning Evaluation:
  • Develops innovative approaches to evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs and organizational development projects/initiatives. Applies a wide range of qualitative or quantitative methods to measure efficiency and improve program effectiveness
  • Survey and track key metrics to determine overall effectiveness of Talent Management programs.
  • Perform basic to complex analysis of development programs to measure the success of talent initiatives

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Human Resources, Business, I/O Psychology or equivalent experience; PHR / SPHR certification a plus.
  • 7+ years experience designing, developing and supporting organization-wide talent management and development programs including performance management, talent development, coaching, mentoring, succession planning processes and tools, and data analytics
  • Strong business acumen, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to influence throughout the organization, regardless of level or role
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with knowledge of modern business communication, including public speaking and presentation skills, as well as effective listening skills
  • Intermediate to Expert level proficiency with full Microsoft Office Suite;
Preferred Experience:

  • Masters Degree in Human Resource Development, Organizational Development or Instructional Design.
  • Advanced knowledge of adult learning theories and emerging instructional design trends in the industry (gamification, micro-learning, peer learning, etc.)
  • Self-motivated individual with excellent organizational skills, able to work independently and handle multiple priorities and deadlines concurrently
  • Ability to implement strategic plans and programs to create a sustainable, high performance workforce at all levels
