QCQA TECH III - Austin Bridge and Road

Austin Industries, Inc. Coppell, TX (On Site) Full-Time
QA/QC Tech 3

This position will be responsible for testing and inspecting Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) at various stages throughout the placement process.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Functional Areas of Responsibility

* Product testing
* Reporting

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

* Perform sampling, testing, and reporting of HMA under quality control and quality assurance specifications and test procedures
* Know and understand correct pavement surface preparations (e.g., dry placement surface, non-rutting base course)
* Perform sampling, testing, and reporting of HMA under quality control and quality assurance specifications and test procedures
* Monitor delivery of material to the jobsite
* Know and understand placement operations (paving equipment)
* Understand proper unloading (truck discharge) and placement procedures to minimize the effects of segregation during laydown operations
* Establish rolling patterns in order to achieve and maintain optimum density/% air voids as required by project specifications
* Obtain roadway core samples for the determination of in-place density/% air voids
* Evaluate test data and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards
* Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality
* Maintain constant communications with the Level 1A Plant Technician to ensure that the mix being produced maintains consistency and changes are being made accordingly, if necessary
* Other duties as assigned
