OVERVIEW/SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The responsibilities of this position include assembling medical records, reviewing transcribed reports for accuracy and filing reports in open and closed records.Code records accurately using DSM 5 and ICD-10 standards to code inpatient/discharge diagnosis. Audit records according to policies and procedures for accuracy and completeness. Maintain monthly data collection of pertinent information to include performance measures; record deficiencies and other data collection measures as it relates to patient care. Follow policies and procedures to release and protect the confidentiality of protected health information (PHI). Assist staff members in retrieving records for review/completion. Fulfill requests for information according to policies and procedures and responds appropriately to requests that do not meet privacy standards.
This position has heavy phone coverage and will be assisting the regular techs.
SHIFT : Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm
Knowledge and experience in medical records analysis and documentation.
Previous experience in medical records processing.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
High school graduate or equivalent
Minimum of one-year experience in a clerical capacity within an organization
Good communication and organizational skills
Knowledge of computer principles and Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel (Advanced Preferred)
Skills involving research and analysis of facts and issues
Verbal and written communication skills
sitting, bending, standing, walking, twisting, lifting heavy charts, squatting, typing, computer processing all for long periods of time
attention to detail, awake and alert throughout entire shift.
Be able to handle a stressful work environment and interruptions
Capable of lifting push and pulling up to 20 lbs.
Able to work alone or in a group.
