Genetic Counselor Assistant

Northshore Evanston, IL Full-Time
Position Highlights:

* Position: Genetics Counselor Assistant, Department of Medical Genetics
* Location: Evanston Hospital - Evanston, IL
* Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
* Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM

What you will need:

* Education: Bachelor's degree required
* Experience:
* Minimum one year of work experience in genetic counseling setting preferred.
* Experience with Epic or other EMR system preferred.

* Skills:
* Strong communication skills
* Ability to be flexible in meeting the demands of patients and physicians
* Ability to multi-task and problem solve

What you will do:

* Provide brief conversation related to the benefits of testing, clinical utility of testing, and the possible familian impacts of genetic testing.
* Assist patient with decision to schedule an appointment or obtain testing for patients scheduled in GCC schedule
* Document personal and family history and gather information necessary to determine reason for visit
* Support informed decision making regarding genetic testing and health management options
* Schedules new and established patient visits in accordance with patient preference and physician availability
* Coordinate patient care daily via check-in, order input, paperwork organization, end of day follow up of no-shows/cancellations
* Administrative duties as it relates to patient care and follow through
