About the Role

HPS is seeking to hire a full-time legal assistant in its Las Vegas office who has at least five (5) years' experience as a litigation legal assistant, ideally in the medical malpractice or healthcare law field
The legal assistant will be assigned to 3-4 attorneys and work collaboratively with them and the other staff to efficiently provide our clients with the best possible results
The right candidate will be skilled and hard-working as well as pleasant and personable


Responsibilities

• Maintains attorneys' calendar.

• Schedules court appearances, client meetings, depositions, and other engagements
Ensures there are no scheduling conflicts and notifies attorneys of pending deadlines.

• Serves as intermediary between attorneys, firm personnel and the courts, relaying communications between each group.

• Generates all correspondence.

• Prepares and sends notices of filings, motions, and hearing to appropriate parties


• Creates and maintains client files, records, logs, and any other information in relation to case file.

What You will Need to Succeed

• 5+ years as a Legal Assistant within a law firm supporting attorneys practicing medical malpractice defense litigation or other defense litigation.

• Knowledge of concepts, terminology, principles, and procedures of the law.

• Knowledge of functions and jurisdictions of local, state, and federal courts and related agencies.

• Highly proficient using MS Office Suites: Word, Excel, Outlook, Billing Software, and On-Line Document Management Software.

• Expertise in using Outlook Calendars for scheduling and maintaining attorneys' busy court schedules


• Experience in creating and maintaining documents, formatting, inputting, editing, retrieving, and copying; coordinating case preparation.

• Experience in tracking billing hours through billing software.

• Must be highly organized, able to multitask and juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong time management skills and strong attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
