Assistant Lab Manager USA, Waddell | Laboratory & Microbiology

YOUR ROLE IN THE FAMILY:
- Reviews lab system data, confirming compliance, assessing trends, and implementing improvement opportunities
- Calibration of measuring instruments in and outside the laboratory (incl. test equipment management)
- Monitoring the measurements of laboratory staff and non-laboratory staff. Evaluates finished goods quality and audit processes throughout production to ensure all specs are met and plant is operating within desired parameters
- Ensuring methodological competence for all employees working with laboratory equipment
- Training of the laboratory staff and the non-laboratory staff
- Release and blocking of goods/semi-finished goods/incoming products
- Training and support of external copackers in the lab department
- Other project work within the company
- Monitoring of the department's chemicals, incl. management of the safety data sheets
- All related administrative activities
- Proficient in Good Lab Practices, keeping a clean and safe laboratory
- Prioritizes work in a fast-paced environment to limit downtime and keep operations moving
- Manages laboratory inventory
- Participates in HACCP Food Safety Program to ensure product integrity and food safety
- Follows instructions from supervisors regarding policies and procedures
- Effectively responds to directions during emergencies by understanding emergency procedures, equipment and systems as necessary; Implements contingency plan to the level required
- Complies with environmental regulations when using, dispensing, or handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials and waste
- Maintains a safe and secure working environment, including correcting unsafe acts/conditions
- Establishes and maintains an employee relations climate of trust and confidence, promoting achievement of plant objectives
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR TO JOIN OUR FAMILY?
- Minimum 2-5 years laboratory experience in beverage/food or relevant industries preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in food science preferred
- Strong analytical skills
- Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy
- Solution-oriented mindset and strong problem-solving skills
- Structured and independent way of working
- Knowledge of good laboratory practices, including sample prep, handling and record keeping
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize work while multitasking
- Must work effectively in team environments
- Proficient with basic computer applications, including Excel, Microsoft Office, and Word
- SAP knowledge of advantage
- Must follow company policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct
- Ability to handle sensitive and proprietary information in a confidential manner

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Works in a manufacturing environment
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to: talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, grasp, pick, lift, stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions. The employee must frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds. The employee is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as operate production machines where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach
- This position is exposed to occupational hazards, including but not limited to high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, etc.
- Must wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices
