Key Responsibilities:

The IMO Leader role has four key facets that include but are not limited to the responsibilities listed below:


  • Reports to the SVP M&A Solutions Leader, responsible for providing overall leadership to the development and delivery of M&A solutions to external clients to include: strategy, due diligence process, integration strategy, post-close integration planning and implementation.
  • Engages the client and prospect client organizations at multiple levels to facilitate mutual understanding around business needs, objectives, solutions, decision-making and desired outcomes and timing.
  • Identifies and implements best practices in M&A solutions to include developing tools and guides documenting a consistent and repeatable models for the M&A life cycle.

Business Development:

  • Includes achievement of formal revenue goals relating to existing and new logo clients; supporting RFP activities and sales efforts; reviewing and tracking the pipeline of new acquisition opportunities and; collaboration with Segal CRMs, consultants and dedicated Business Developers.
  • Trusted, business (vs HR)-oriented advisor in M&A integration solutions processes recognized for being action-oriented, innovative and best practice-centric when problem-solving and conceptualizing business solutions.


  • Role includes collaborating with M&A integration team members, Segal business leaders, client leadership and business partners on developing M&A integration strategies and objectives and translating M&A solutions objectives into project goals, plans and actions that are delegated to integration solution team Project Leaders and other M&A team members.
  • Facilitates decision making with appropriate stakeholders, identifies cross functional dependencies, issues and risks.
  • Communicates (orally and in writing) and effectively influences change.
  • Leadership and development of people resources to include M&A project managers who oversee the delivery for all work streams and resources deemed relevant to the delivery of integrated M&A solutions to include: managing conflict, resolving cross-team issues and, facilitating decision-making and, contributing to a work culture that is diverse, equitable and inclusive.
  • M&A solutions leadership includes but may not be limited to:
    • Leading the development and implementation of full-cycle activities that capture and fully
      realizes M&A synergies.
    • Defining the structure and process of the IMO and assembling teams with the subject matter expertise to manage the various cross-functional integration activities.
    • Coordinating with Segal, client leadership and key corporate development team members on due diligence to identify and evaluate key issues, assess integration requirements and challenges and develop post-close integration plans.
    • Oversee day-to-day execution of the full life cycle of the M&A solutions process including coaching cross-functional teams, leading regularly scheduled integration team meetings and driving proactive issue resolution.
    • Identifying and managing key risks and developing mitigation plans.
    • Setting the pace of integration, communicating around and ensuring the effective
      management of stakeholder expectations.
    • Tracking and reporting on status of objective achievement and defined success measures
      throughout the M&A life cycle.

Infrastructure Development:

  • Collaborates with the SVP M&A Solutions Leader, SVP Corporate Consulting Global Leader and others on building Segal26rsquo;s M&A Solutions infrastructure to include: methods, templates, tools and techniques.
  • Defining the structure and process of the IMO and assembling teams with the subject matter expertise to manage the various cross-functional integration activities.

Key Requirements:

  • Academic: Master26rsquo;s degree (desirable).
  • Years of experience: Minimum of 10-12 years of relevant experience in full-cycle M&A solutions consulting and leadership of M&A engagements involving complex, cross-functional teams; global M&A experience a plus.
  • Work experience: Experience performing in relevant roles within a management consulting, private equity, venture capital or related professional services organization running a M&A integration teams. Deep/broad expertise and knowledge of M&A life cycle and work streams as it relates to broad enterprise operations, organization and functionality. Large scale, overall M&A life cycle solution leadership. Experience managing, developing and motivating a professional staff. Demonstrated track record of success in business development and revenue growth activities involving both existing and new logo clients.
  • Professional credential: Professional accreditation as appropriate and relevant to the M&A marketplace.
  • Technologies: Technical proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and use relevant data, project management and video meeting technologies and tools.
  • Skills/Traits: M&A full life cycle visionary; change agent; effective communicator (oral/written); creative problem-solving and conflict resolution; capability of bringing best-practice approaches to the M&A life cycle process and execution; organization awareness and adeptness at learning, understanding and navigating organizations; understanding of M&A business aspects and operations to include financials, nomenclature and variations.
