Summary - Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Manager supervises staff and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.

Job Duties:

-Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
-Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
-Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
-Ensure the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions.
-Supports budget and forecasting activities.
-Collaborates with the other department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
-Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
-Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
-Responds to inquiries from the Vice President of Finance, Controller, and other Executives and managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.
-Work with the Controller to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.
-Supervise the general ledger group to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
-Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
-Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
-Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
-Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
-Support Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements. Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
-Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.
-Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.

Requirements:

-Bachelor degree in accounting required; CPA preferred.
-Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience.
-Ability to supervise and direct work force of employees.
-Exceptional interpersonal skills.
-High level of proficiency of Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Lotus Notes.
-Well-developed organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and ensure timely completion of multiple projects.
-Strong teamwork skills with a willingness to assist others.
-Ability to analyze large amounts of data and create statistical data analysts.
-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
-Ability to work cooperatively with others.
-Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.
-Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures.
