There is routine exposure to significant levels of heat, cold moisture and air pollution. MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a high school degree or a GED certificate. May require up to 18 months of vocational education/training in automotive maintenance or repair (i.e., NIASE). MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two years equivalent of automotive maintenance and repair experience are required. MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Requires a valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving. May require a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) if the position requires operation of a heavy vehicle. Departments with a CDL training program may require a position to obtain an A or B CDL within six (6) months of entering the position. In the Fire Department, a State of Texas Inspection License may be preferred.
Applicants with Med/Heavy Duty DIESEL knowledge and experience. ASE- Air Brake Systems Diagnostic & Repairs Certification, and/or State of Texas Inspection License and candidates with Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a plus. If you are the selected candidate working on Heavy Duty equipment you will be required to obtain a CDL within 6 months of employment.SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED
