Under the direction of a physician, support providers in provision of patient care; including recording vital signs, discussing chief health concerns, performing testing, and administering medications (within scope of practice); assists with procedures and completes documentation. Assist in the day to day operations of the clinic.
Collects data accurately and sees that all information is transferred to patient chart correctly.
Uses effective communication skills and interpersonal skills in obtaining information from patient.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Instructs patients and their family members in home care as outlined by the physician.
Assists with health education and rehabilitation on the patient’s level of understanding.
Renders direct patient care within scope of practice.
Must be able to complete the physical, sensory and mental requirements of the position.
Prepares rooms for the patients and cleans rooms between patients.
Patient intake to include: weight, blood pressure, temperature, asks reason for visit, document vitals, etc.
Assist physician during clinic procedures when needed.
Administer medications as prescribed. Dressing changes as needed.
Support patient teaching on prevention of disease, health maintenance and disease management.
Return patient phone calls and take calls which need triage.
Relay the physician’s instructions to the patient.
Chart preparation – place phone calls to obtain information pertinent to patient’s appointment and pre-op information.
Able to provide care for patients for the non-pediatric population of all age groups.Maintains age specific competencies.
Watches schedule for time, inform front desk if doctor is running more than ½ hour late, keep doctor on schedule as much as possible.
Keep work areas clean.
Monitors inventory of medical supplies, reorder as needed.
Scheduling tests and instructing patients as needed.
Assist PSR when needed.
Scrub instruments and package them each day to be picked up.
Provide services to all the clinics when needed to cover staff vacations, illnesses, leave of absences, or increased work load.
Other duties as assigned/directed by physician, or clinic management.
Current Wisconsin LPN license or will consider certification with the American Medical Technologists or the American Association of Medical Assistants.
At least 2 years recent (within 3 years) LPN or MA experience in a clinic setting.
Must be adept at obtaining patient history and in handling clinic telephone triage.
EPIC experience required.
Excellent customer relation skills essential.
Potential exposures to latex proteins, blood borne pathogens, hazardous materials and communicable diseases.
