Sr Dir - Engineering & Data Science

Schneider’s industry leading and award-winning Engineering and Advanced Analytics organization is seeking an innovative and strategic leader to join our renowned TECH team as the Sr Director of Engineering & Data Science. This people-centric leader is responsible for the development and execution of the Data Science, Optimization and Artificial Intelligence enterprise strategy, roadmap, and platform. This is a strategic and collaborative leadership role that works with all functional areas of TECH and enterprise business leaders to deliver data science technologies for our internal and external customers.  A key focus will be developing and integrating automated intelligence within our decision science systems to optimize and manage our complex transportation network and customers supply chains. Strong focus on collaboratively delivering strategically focused, integrated, effective and holistic solutions to support the achievement of the enterprise operating goals, objectives and plans.

As such, our current CIO was presented the 2018 CIO Innovation Award for the development and implementation of telematics company assets, Internet-of-Things devices and app development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Development of Decision Science strategic plans that support the achievement of the Enterprise and TECH goals and objectives
  • Provide project leadership and technical direction to the development of dynamic data driven decision models, services and capabilities that support the achievement of line of business and enterprise goals and objectives
  • Drive Enterprise strategy around Data Science, and Optimization and AI with an emphasis on applying automated decisions to transportation network and supply chain management
  • Develop process to provide ongoing support, tuning and model improvements to achieve optimal automated decision making in a dynamic and changing business environment
  • Research advances in Data Science, Optimization and AI and apply applicable advancements to the existing and future dynamic data driven decision models, architecture and systems in a pragmatic manner
  • Provide hands-on leadership to ensure the development and implementation of effective human capital programs and efforts that ensure the selection, development and retention of associates necessary to achieve business results
  • Promote Schneider’s technical brand through external organizations

OUR PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science or Statistics.  PhD or Master’s degree with an emphasis in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science or Statistics is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of strategic leadership experience, including a minimum of four years of management experience of Data Science and Operations Research professionals with record of progressively greater responsibility; or the equivalent.  Experience in a corporate or enterprise level role preferred.
  • Deep technical expertise and management experience in Data Science and Operations Research
  • Experience working with technical teams within the Agile framework
  • Experience with working in Agile cross-functional/multi-disciplinary team
  • Deep technical knowledge and aptitude to understand and translate complex technology concepts to industry solution is essential.
  • Prior experience in transportation or logistics is highly desirable
