Human Resources Manager – Operations.

The Human Resource Manager will provide leadership and HR support for the Operations team. The HR Manager is responsible for supporting the organization to reach strategic and operational business objectives by implementing best in class HR practices that ensure appropriate staffing, development, and retention of talent. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources, Operations and is part of the U.S. Human Resources team. Regional travel 30% required.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a trusted advisor and partner to operations leaders. Builds the business partner relationship with operations leadership and staff.
  • Provide HR Business Partner support to functional leadership and their organizations.
  • Partner with internal HR stakeholders including Benefits, Talent Acquisition, HRIS Administrators, Payroll, and other HRBPs to align the HR strategy with the HR practice/end-user experience.
  • Partners with business leaders to implement all people-related initiatives including employee on-boarding, training and development, organizational design and effectiveness, cultural initiatives, and health and wellness.
  • Provides guidance to operational leaders and employees to support organizational and people management processes.
  • Manages employee disciplinary meetings, performance improvement plans, investigations, and terminations.
  • Support, communicate and implement business initiatives including performance management, compensation planning, legal reporting, talent management, learning and development, training, open enrollment, etc.
  • Partner with HSS&E team, Operations Leaders, and HR Administrators to support the DOT process.
  • Support operations leadership with regards to union agreements and labor processes.
  • Support other activities and projects as assigned.
  • Lead and participate in Diversity & Inclusion Forum and initiatives

Qualifications

  • Able to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment and to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Must be a confident communicator, (including both written and verbal skills) and must be able to effectively present to all levels of the organization
  • Able to partner with operations stakeholders to achieve organizational and employee goals.
  • Possess a results-oriented mindset and not afraid to “roll up” sleeves and become involved at a detailed level to ensure appropriate solutions and timely resolutions.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects with overlapping tasks and work independently with minimal supervision
  • A team player who can adapt to different leadership and communication styles to develop relationships with operations leaders and employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality and build trust with employees and leaders.
  • Able to effect and manage change positively.
  • Able to manage projects and build processes to improve efficiency with limited direct oversight.
  • Passionate about the mission of the organization and the dedication of our Operations workforce.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM-Certified Professional credentials preferred.
  • Ability to understand the business operations from both a strategic and tactical perspective.
  • Minimum of seven years of progressive HR generalist experience. Experience working with union/represented employees required.
  • Knowledge of HR principles, employment law, benefits administration, recruiting practices, and HRIS systems.
  • Excellent interviewing skills, computer proficiency, supervisory skills, problem-solving abilities, and discretion with confidential information are also necessary.
  • Proven experience in associated HR functions such as Performance Management, Succession Planning, Training, Employee Development, Employee Engagement, HR metrics and Employee Relations.
  • Experience in HR project management.
  • Strong PC skills, software and HR platform experience including advanced Excel and Powerpoint skills.
