A Welder performs a variety of stainless-steel fabrication, and weld processes. Utilizes fabrication machinery, fixtures, and hand tools to ensure components meet tolerances specifications and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Percent of Time Spent:
Must have ability to interpret mechanical blueprints, weld symbols and work instructions.
Must have the skills to perform both MIG and TIG weld processes on thin gauge stainless sheet.
Must have skills to produce sanitary welds that meet USDA requirements.
Must be able to effectively communicate within a team environment. Ability to take oral and written instructions and complete tasks within the defined labor standards.
Must adhere to all internal operating procedures and safety policies. Must maintain acceptable housekeeping practices in designated work area.
May be cross trained in job functions based on capacity requirements.
Recommends set-up and process changes for improvement in productivity and efficiency.
Maintains production rates according to established standards.
Notifies supervisor of any problems with procedures or equipment in order to maintain the highest degree of safety, inventory accuracy and productivity.
Performs other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED and 2 years work related experiences or Associates Degree in Welding Technology. Knowledge in both MIG and TIG weld processes required. Must be able to work within a team environment and interact well with co-workers.
JBT Corporation Operating Procedures, safety procedures, ISO quality procedures, rigging training, MRP system training. Will be required to advance skill set in fabrication and mechanical assembly. Will be required to meet ASME weld certification testing.
Scope of Responsibility/Accountability:
Must have the ability to understand and interpret mechanical blueprints, weld symbols, work instructions, written procedures and oral and written instructions. Ability to work independently to meet production schedules. Ability to utilize shop math fundamentals and problem solving techniques to resolve fabrication issues.
Must meet quality standards, production schedules and labor standards. Variances on labor standards impact cost and on-time delivery performance and result in installation and customer production down-time.
Time is spent in a manufacturing shop environment. Exposure to possible shop hazards including noise, heavy lifting, machinery, forklift and crane traffic. Could be exposed to diverse hot and cold climate conditions for extended periods.
Frequent standing, walking, and climbing. Will be required to lift 50 lbs., push mobile carts and work from a ladder or platform.
