Robert Half Legal is recruiting an Estate Planning Paralegal for its well-regarded estates & trusts and tax planning law firm client in downtown San Francisco (close to BART, and hybrid telecommute OK). The firm services the estates of many of the Bay Areas high net worth and ultra-high net worth families.


The following are the responsibilities of the Paralegal position:

 - Assist the attorneys draft, revise, and finalize trusts, wills, and other estate planning and real estate transaction documents (e.g., purchase & sale agreements);

 - Perform online research (on Lexis Nexis) and Country records research with the various Recorders Offices to gather information on asset transfers, prepare real estate conveyance documents and the transfer of stocks and bonds, partnership and corporate interests, and other assets;

 - Handle filings with the Probate Courts per court procedures;

 - Conduct business entity formation, filings, and maintenance; and

 - Trust & estate administration, as well as accountings.


The following are the qualifications for the Paralegal position:

 - 3+ years of paralegal experience doing estate planning work and familiarity working with Recorders Offices;

 - Preference for Paralegal Certificate, Attorney Attestation of Paralegal Work, or otherwise qualified under California Business & Professions Code §6450 et seq;

 - Software proficiency: MS Word or Word Perfect for word processing, Excel (preferred), Adobe, and Lexis Nexis (a plus);

 - Notary Public commission is preferred, but not necessary; and

 - Flexible work style, able to work independently and complete projects on time, comfortable working on rush assignments, and dedicated to providing high quality legal work product to law firm clientele.

- Capable of taking ownership of projects, writing and negotiating, planning and organizing

- Previous experience working with notary public

- Hands-on experience with legal knowledge

- Wide ranging experience with trust accounting systems

- Skills in estate planning

- Solid understanding of Microsoft Word

- Quality experience with computer research

- Command of typing 45 - 60 words per minute

- Earlier work involving Probate & Estate Administration

- Good understanding of Microsoft Excel

- Lexis experience required

- Practical knowledge of calendar (docket)

- General familiarity with power of attorney forms

- Well-founded grasp of conveyancer

- Proficiency in drafting

- Comprehension of agreements

- Proven knowledge of title real estate

- Corel WordPerfect experience

- Experience with deeds

- Legal terminology experience

- Solid understanding of probate

- Solid understanding of real estate transfers

- Proficiency in Nexis

- Foundational knowledge in legal research

- Prior experience with e-file

- Should be savvy with word processing and spreadsheets

- Constant attention to detail and accuracy, confidentiality

- Customer service oriented communication skills that allow for pleasant and beneficial interactions with all customers

- 2+ years of relevant experience

- Creative problem solver who anticipates risks and opportunities and maintains a vision for continuous improvement
