Reports To: SVP, US Power Supply and Trading

Job Summary:
The primary function of the Power Trading Analyst is to work with the traders to develop and execute strategies to hedge and balance Just Energy%26rsquo;s retail load portfolio.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Support the traders managing both the short-term portfolio (Bal Day through Prompt Month) and
    • Long-term portfolio (Prompt-Month through 5+ years) for multiple ISOs
    • Experience trading or supporting traders in multiple ISOs preferred, including ERCOT, PJM, NYISO, ISONE, MISO, CAISO
    • Help execute bilateral transactions and participant in congestion auctions to balance portfolio and hedge retail customer contracts under the guidance of traders
    • Assist with maintaining forward curves, including all market-based cost components used in pricing retail contracts
    • Develop and help analyze hedging strategies for energy, shape, basis, capacity, and ancillary positions
    • Help identify potential risk in the portfolio and develop and work the traders to execute cost-effective hedging strategies to mitigate that risk
    • Stay abreast of market developments
  • Maintain and improve existing PnL tracking and reporting
    • Provide analytical support to traders for making hedging and pricing decisions
Requirements:
  • 2+ years supporting a trading desk or in a risk department with relevant power market experience preferred
  • Strong analytical and economic modeling capability
  • Knowledge of competitive retail markets is preferred
  • Extensive experience with performing analysis and modeling with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working with SQL Server and VBA required
Education:
Bachelor%26rsquo;s degree in engineering, mathematics, finance, economics, or related technical field
